About Me |

|
I'm a freelance photographer and writer with more than 20 years experience in photojournalism and portraiture. Because
of my background in photojournalism I believe weddings, christenings,
birthday parties, family reunions and other events not only are
opportunities for beautiful portraits, but also for images that tell the
story. My introduction to photojournalism and portraiture came at the University of Alabama in Birmingham where I studied photography and art. There I served as photo editor of the student newspaper. My first full-time job in journalism was as a features photographer and writer for “The Dothan Eagle,” a small town newspaper. Positions at “The Birmingham Post Herald,” “The Daytona News Journal,” and “Florida Today” followed. I then worked in public affairs for NASA at Kennedy Space Center before starting my own company, and am now based in the Orlando area. My photography and writing appear in publications including "AAA Going Places," "Islands," "Latitudes," "Executive Traveler," "Incentive," "Orlando Home & Leisure," "Chicago Sun-Times," "Ottawa Citizen," "Florida Today," "About.com" and other publications. To keep growing as a photographer I participate in ongoing education in photography and have studied with photography masters including Hanson Fong and the late Monte Zucker. Over the years I have developed my abilities in Photoshop, attending numerous classes, seminars and National Association of Photoshop Professionals conferences. My years in journalism have taught me how to watch for pivotal moments: the flicker of a smile on a child’s face, a meaningful look between two friends, a grandfather’s heartfelt laugh. My art training has sharpened my eye, allowing me to better compose my photographs with drama and beauty. My passion is recording images that evocatively portray the moments that define our lives.
